A day in my working life, an occasional series providing an insight into how entrepreneurs spend a typical working day. This week, Samanah Duran from Critics Clothing and #BEYOUROWN.

Samanah Duran is a British fashion designer and successful businesswoman. As company Founder, CEO & Creative Director of Critics Clothing, Samanah is setting a great example as an aspiring 21st century entrepreneur, to an audience of all ages. Samanah’s fierce emphasis on inspiring each individual to embrace their identity and to take pride in their individuality is perfectly presented in her vision for innovative clothing, which was revolutionised through the crafting of premium streetwear with the power to evoke self-expression.

Building on that inspiration as an extension of Critics Clothing, Samanah has now successfully launched #BEYOUROWN. #BEYOUROWN is a new platform featuring interviews with the most influential, entrepreneurial women of today; successful entrepreneurs of our modern day, hailing from: business; music; media; science; tech; art; and sports.

Here is a typical day in Samanah’s working life.

7:30: Wake up and start to get ready; shower and post all relevant content on Critics Clothing and #BEYOUROWN social media pages such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

9:00: Have a strong black coffee and glimpse over emails to be prepared for today’s agenda of work for both Critics Clothing and #BEYOUROWN. I don’t like to respond to any kind of Whatsapp or SMS messages this early in the morning.

12:00: My days can vary, if I don’t have meetings I start working through emails for either press, upcoming photo shoots or samples and design work for Critics Clothing. Sometimes my emails can vary from checking invoices are paid on time to making sure delivery and fulfilment is on time and checking stock inventory is all up to date. I also go through the forwarded emails from my press team at #BEYOUROWN for interviews to see which inspirational women in business I’d like to talk to. I also check in and touch base with my friends and see how they are. I may also do some conference calls around this time to any of my business associates in or out of the UK.

14:00: I am usually on my third or fourth coffee by now, I take a break to sit and listen to music or maybe grab some snacks.

15:00: The #BEYOUROWN team and I research potential women to interview for the series of instalments coming up throughout the weeks ahead. I like to be prepared and really know who the entrepreneurs are in depth and what their success story’s sound like.

18:30: I’m usually eating dinner at this time which would be a salad or fish/vegetable dish as I don’t eat meat or much diary products.

21:00: I write up content for the #BEYOUROWN interview articles and gather all information and images that have been sent to me so I can frame the articles. I also tidy up any last emails and lose ends.

22:00: I would like to say that I’m chilling at this time, but when your self employed, it is very hard to switch off. I am typically drifting/reading in and out of emails whilst a film is on. Sometimes the design team might send me something they are working on, or someone has sent me a link to check out or some press coverage I may have missed.

23:00: If I have meetings the next day I like to make sure I am prepared and ready for the appointment in advance. I like to do my meetings/appointments around 14:00 onwards as that’s the time I function best so I double check everything is good to go.

2:00-4:00: I very rarely sleep before 1 am, so I sleep around this time….
