Calling all Americaphiles, yet another US import has landed on our shores the legendary Potbelly sandwich shop, imagine Subway’s, sophisticated and much tastier younger brother. Founded in Chicago back in 1977, Potbelly began life as a small antique store and was named after one of its best –selling products – the potbelly stove. Potbelly’s founders, a young enterprising couple decided to diversify into selling lunches; this additional service breathed new life into the store helping the business become a resounding success. Three decades on the Potbelly brand is an entrenched part of American life with over 440 stores spread nationwide.

Potbelly has recently opened on The Street at Westfield Stratford City; the very first European outpost is serving, the Potbelly speciality – an extensive choice of hot, toasted sandwiches: mega ‘Merican Madness:’ meatball in a rich tomato and herb sauce topped with melted Provolone cheese. The Mediterranean: a mix of harissa hummus, crumbled feta, artichoke and red peppers. A Wreck: crammed full of hand-sliced meats including salami, Angus roast beef, turkey and Swiss cheese.Potbelly -Fully Loaded Sandwich_I_Edited
